Manyame Rural District Council

The ease of doing business

Manyame Rural District Council is found in Seke District which is strategically located close to Harare and Chitungwiza urban centres which makes it an attractive investment destination. The council shares boundaries with Marondera, Chikomba and Goromonzi Rural District Councils in Mashonaland East Province, Mhondoro-Ngezi and Chegutu districts in Mashonaland West Province as well as Chitungwiza Municipality and Harare City Council in the metropolitan City of Harare. The Harare-Masvingo highway passes through six wards of the ditrict hence creating an apportunity to make some investments along the highway. All wards in the district have access to electricity which makes it possible for investors to obtain power from existing infrastructure at affordable costs. Even our communal areas benefited from government's rural electrification program such that most homesteads are electrfied. The settlement pattern in the district can be divided into rural and urban although it is predominantly a peri-urban settlement given its proximity to Harare and Chitungwiza. The district has a total of 30 service centres. The centres are evenly distributed in the district and provide great potential for investment. Council has a stand allocation policy which guides the allocation of stands for business purposes. The policy requires applicants to join the waiting list and await their chance to be considered for a stand. The policy also provides for the disposal of stands on the open market whereby an investor can purchase a stand soon after making an application. The main challenge with regard to investment promotion in the district is that all stateland in the resettlement areas (which form 62% of the district) is administered by the Ministry of Lands and Rural Resettlement. The District has investment opportunities in the areas of infrastructure property development, agriculture, tourism and mining. With 62% of the land in the district being in the commercial agriculture area and more than 50% of it being occupied by newly resettled farmers, it means we have opportunities for partnerships and contract agreements in agricultural production.Council has fast growing centres where there are housing, industrial, institutional and commercial developments.Investers can acquire stands for variuos uses at these centres and also establish business ventures to tap into the fast growing market. Council is also in a drive to construct schools, clinics, roads and other social facilities. The District boasts of tourist attractions such as Chaminuka shrine and Mamina dam.
